Nurturing a deep, mature experience of God through the practice of Unity principles

Beloved for his ability to “tell it like it is”, Rev. Marty Bacher has ministered with wisdom and wit for almost thirty years. A sought after speaker, Marty employs the insight of a sage and the  timing of a comedian. With inspiration, humor and deep perception, Marty moves his audience from laughter to self-reflection to inspiration. With an extensive background in small group ministry and leadership development, Marty was selected as Unity of Charlotte’s senior minister in December 2017.

About Unity
Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path.
God is all.
God is the creative source of all life, everywhere present and always available.
We co-create with God.
Humans are co-creative beings with God. We co-create our experiences through our thought, belief, word and action.
Spiritual practice deepens our conscious connection with God.
With regular spiritual practice, we have the power to create the life that we want.

Meditation allows us to listen to the divine.
Letting go of past mistakes (ours or others’) makes room for joy.
A spiritual practice to be open to divine love, wisdom and guidance.
Spiritual growth requires remaining teachable.

Being of service and allowing ourselves to be served brings balance and joy to our lives.

Abundance comes as we learn to give generously and receive graciously.
Community Celebration
When we come together in community, to celebrate our divine nature, we are all uplifted.

Unity stands for peace in the presence of conflict; for love in the presence of hatred; for forgiveness in the presence of injury. Unity honors the many names for God, the many paths to God, the many ways to worship God; for there is only one power and presence of God and that God loves each one of us equally.

We teach life affirming spiritual principles as taught by Jesus the Christ and other great spiritual masters. We believe God expresses through all equally. We welcome all people regardless of ethnicity, background, sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Not only do we celebrate diversity, we promote inclusion.

As we move forward as a church, we are committed to growing and developing  thriving programs to support youth and families of all kinds.

In the beginning: The first meeting of what was to become Unity of Charlotte was held in 1969 at a private home, based on the Unity Study Groups advocated by founder, Charles Fillmore.

Along the way:  Over the years the church has grown and evolved in many ways.  We’ve had many wonderful ministers and locations, each serving the needs of the congregation at the time.  We held our first service at our current location in March of 2006.

And now: In 2017 the church community went through a collective soul searching exercise.  As a result of this 7 month process, a new vision evolved to reinvent the church as a mission-centric, small group organization.  In December of 2017, Rev. Marty Bacher was hired as our senior minister because of his passion for teaching spiritual principles, developing leadership and his expertise in this model of ministry.

Would you like support for you or a loved one? We’d be happy to pray for you.
